Final Conference

The ANYWHERE Final Conference consists in the 4th Project Workshop plus a Hands-on demonstration and will take place in Brussels (Belgium) on 29th-30th October 2019. The selected venue is the SQUARE Brussels Convention Centre (more details on the section Venue). The Final Conference is aimed for ANYWHERE Project Partners and for members of the Stakeholders’ Board, private companies belonging to the Commercial Associates’ Board, as well as for other invited organisations from various fields of civil protection and emergency management services.

Scope of the ANYWHERE Final Conference

The ANYWHERE Final Conference includes a Hands-on demonstration (29th October 2019) as well as the 4th Project Workshop (30th October 2019).

The Hands-on demonstration of the ANYWHERE platforms and operational developments (29th October 2019) is open to everybody registered but restricted to a maximum of 100 participants due to space limitations (Stakeholders and Commercial associated will have preference in the assignation). The activity will show project Stakeholders and the Associated enterprises the developments achieved by ANYWHERE through a hands-on demonstration using the operational platforms running in real-time in the project pilot sites, and on selected pre-recorded case-studies (relevant emergency events).

It will represent a great opportunity to let interested new users to get a dedicated insight on the ANYWHERE platforms and impact forecasting products / services through the possibility to explore by themselves the operational versions running in real-time in 7 pilot sites across Europe. Participants joining the activity shall bring their own laptops.

The main purpose of the ANYWHERE 4th Project Workshop is to showcase the latest project advancements and to discuss them with the external institutions members of the Stakeholders’ Board along with the Commercial Associates of the project, as well as with the Advisory Board members. Round tables are foreseen for engaging the discussion, plus parallel live exhibits showing the ANYWHERE developments on large screens, as well as a space dedicated to posters.

Moreover, it will be fostered generating an adequate atmosphere among the involved actors (RTD partners, developers, first-responders, stakeholders and technological enterprises) to ensure the success of the collaborative approach needed in the project. This is a key factor to effectively integrate the real-time operation requirements in the design and deployment of the systems and services tackling the societal challenges foreseen. Additionally, it is also sought to consolidate and enhance the collaboration between the European civil protection actors.

The challenge
To empower exposed responder institutions and citizens to enhance their anticipation and self-preparedness to face extreme and high-impact weather-induced events developing operational tools to support real-time coordination of the emergency response operations to face the challenge of the risks management during climate change adaptation.

Objectives
To develop a pan-European multi-hazard platform for faster analysis and anticipation of the risk prior to event occurrence by means of cutting edge scientific developments and innovative technologies. To improve coordination of the emergency actions taken by Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) and to raise the self-awareness and self-preparedness of population at risk.

Impacts
More effective early warning systems and decision-support systems, accompanied by tailored online services developed to support self-preparedness, self-protection, and self-response of citizens. Advanced technological innovations to assist Civil Protections, first responders and emergency authorities supporting them to achieve faster and more effective responses to Weather-and-Climate-induced disasters and emergencies.
