Travel information and tips
If you are arriving by plane, there exist different recommended transportation alternatives to reach the city centre. Below are listed, sorted by cost (low to high) and at the same time for the trip time (high to low):
• Metro, using the line 9 (L9): the ticket costs 4,50€ and the trip time is about 40-45 minutes. The Barcelona metro map can be found here.
• Aerobus, a specific bus that connects directly with the airport (only 3 stops): the ticket costs 5,90€ and the trip time is about 30-35 minutes. For consulting timetables and additional information click here.
• Taxi: the cost from the Airport to the city centre is about 40€ (with the regular fare, nightly fare will increase the figure) and will take about 25 minutes (time and therefore cost may increase with the traffic).
A convenient option is the Aerobus, in terms of balance between cost and trip time (can be ever lower than a Taxi trip with traffic jams, since it takes advantage of the Bus lane).
When departing, the same transportation options commented previously can be used to reach the airport. If you are on a rush and need urgently a cab, there is a “Taxi rank” close to the World Trade Center. Alternatively, you can order a cab through the Radio Taxi call-center (telephone 0034 933 033 033; English language can be used).
Accommodation
The organisation has pre-blocked some rooms at hotels located close to the main venue. The Workshop invited participants belonging to any of the project Boards have their expenses covered from 12th to 15th of November (shall receive a password for the registration, additional days will be borne by the attendee), and will be contacted after completing the registration by the hired travel agency to deal with the associated travel arrangements (transportation / accommodation).
Participants whose travel expenses are covered by their own organisations (Project partners or Additional workshop participants) can also take advantage of the pre-blocked hotel rooms. For that purpose, please contact the hired travel agency (see section Contact).
Dinners on your own
In case that you are going to have dinner on your own (like Wednesday 14th-November in case of staying) it is difficult to propose restaurant, since Barcelona is plenty of good and affordable options. The neighbourhoods surrounding the old-town (Gothic quarter, El Born, El Raval, Sant Antoni, Poble sec) are plenty of interesting options (Tripadvisor ratings could be helpful here). The main tip would be to avoid the most touristic zones, such as “Las ramblas”.
