ANYWHERE helped Catalonia’s Snow Action Plan

The ANYWHERE Project participated directly to Prepare and Prevent against snow hazard during the snow storm that affected Catalonia, Spain, during the last week of February 2018.
The Civil Protection command centre, CECAT, that is part of ANYWHERE, received warnings, forecasting products and expert guidance from the ECMWF, the FMI (Finland) and UPC (Catalonia) and the technology developer HYDS, to ensure that the most accurate and update forecasting models were used.
The CECAT enacted its Snow Emergency action plan, NEUCAT, that reduced or closed school and work activities, truck transit, and some other critical points at risk, resulting of a minimal affection in general, being a successful case of international collaboration to help directly the Population through Science, Technology and Operational agencies.
